Western International School of Shanghai

The Western International School of Shanghai (WISS) is an international school located in Puxi, Shanghai.

WISS was granted approval by the Ministry of Education in Beijing in 2004 and opened its doors on September 6, 2006. The school campus is spread across a 16-acre (65,000 m2) site which has been designed by Weimar Architects of the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany.

The first building was completed in August, 2006 and currently houses students from Nursery to Grade 11. Phase two of construction has been partially finished, Grade 1 to 11 students have moved to new building in September 2008. New spacious library, cafeteria and well-equipped pool building are also in use. Primary and middle school students enjoy swimming lessons from September till December. Phase two of construction will be finished in 2009. Middle and High school students will move to the new building.
